Slow down, take time to connect. A simple idea really, but in the busy-ness of our day-to-day work with children, it's not always so easy to execute. Yet, when we take the time to really get to know children, to build strong, authentic relationships with them - everything changes. Our days begin to feel "less busy" because we spend less time managing behaviour, or directing children - how great does that sound?

In this session, we will share simple strategies for building and maintaining strong relationships with children, and learn about the benefits of doing so. We'll discuss the challenges that can arise too - such as the child that just doesn't seem to like you!

This session will highlight the importance of connection and inspire you to take action.

Documenting children's learning and experiences is a crucial element of early childhood education and care services. But how do we know what to document and in what way? Often we become so bogged down in the visual or display aspect to our documentation, that the reason for documenting in the first place is overshadowed.

During this session, we look at what the NQF actually says about documenting children's learning and explore the concept of a planning cycle. Through practical experiences, participants will learn skills for observing children at play and reflect on what we should be including in our observations and documentation. Taking time to consider the audience and purpose of your documentation will transform the way that you think about it!

What if we told you that you have the power to change the life of a child? What if we told you that each and every day you can do something to make a difference in the world?
Advocacy is a word that has a tendency to intimidate, but quite simply, advocacy is the act of speaking out or supporting a cause or concept.
As educators, we are in a prime position to advocate for children and the issues that impact them, but we often don't know where to start. In this session, we will explore the idea of advocacy, unpack examples of it, and look at simple strategies for embedding advocacy in your day-to-day practice, and life. We'll also discuss what it means to lead advocacy, and how to find what you even want to be an advocate for!

Reading books with children should be a joyful and enriching experience, yet for many educators it can feel challenging (particularly if you are reading a child's favourite for the 475th time!) During this session, we will explore simple strategies for building your reading confidence, finding the joy in reading, and will learn techniques that support children's language and literacy development.

Only with this Pass...

Access to recordings of the live sessions in case you can't make it (won't be available to non-pass holders)

A certificate of completion once you have completed the session and a reflective assessment question (won't be available to non-pass holders)

In this live online session, we will unpack the benefits to being outdoors in a variety of weather types - from a health, development and wellbeing perspective, and also the learning opportunities that present themselves in the wind, the rain and the snow - not just the sunshine!

Perhaps you've heard the term provocation and wondered "what's that all about?" Essentially the idea of a provocation for children's play and learning, is that we, as educators, have the ability to provoke thinking, or a sense of curiosity and wonder, or creativity.

In this session, we explore the concept of provocations and how we can utilise these in an intentional way within our programs and environments across the various ages and stages of development. We'll explore how a provocation isn't simply an object but can be a question, or idea, or moment.

This session will inspire you to create and be curious and to take that curiosity into your day-to-day practice with children.

Emerging independence is a beautiful thing to watch. As infants take their first steps, or preschoolers delight in being able to pour their drink themselves, we watch on and feel a sense of pride and excitement at all that awaits them.

When we set up environments with the intention of supporting emerging independence, we make it easier for children - and adults - to take these steps forward in their development.

In this session, through practical examples, we explore how the resources we provide and our design/set-up considerations can make a world of difference to the way in which children play and explore their environment confidently and curiously, taking steps towards greater independence.

Cultivating community connections is vital for supporting our children to see themselves as citizens of the world. Regardless of where your service is, your community will be unique to you. It will offer different opportunities, different challenges, different characters.

Early childhood services are traditionally quite isolated within the community - often surrounded by big fences and gates, we are entire worlds of our own! So, how do we support our children to feel a part of the community, and encourage our community to see our children as participants and contributors to the community?

This session explores the challenges and opportunities that we can experience when we open our doors to the community. Through practical examples and simple ideas, participants will be inspired to make their worlds just a little bigger, and to reap the benefits of community connection.

All for just $240 - that's just $24/month for an amazing year of guided professional learning!

Have you ever tried to draw with a pencil that keeps breaking? Or perhaps you have fought with a glue stick that refuses to stick anything together? The Materials and environments that we provide for children to explore visual arts are crucial to their feelings of satisfaction and to the release of creativity! Access to a qualified art educator in every service would be amazing, but the reality is, that most educators have little to no specific art training. Does that mean the children in our care will miss out on opportunities? Absolutely not!

During the session, we will explore practical ways in which we can provide opportunities and environments for visual art. Educators will learn about the developmental benefits of visual arts and the difference between process and product based art. This inspiring session will have educators clamouring to return to their work with children, filled with new ideas and strategies for supporting creativity and exploration.

Celebrations are a big part of our wider societal culture. - birthdays, holidays, religious events, community events, and graduations. Though they may vary in what, when, and how we celebrate, most families and communities will have a range of occasions, events, and significant moments that they celebrate. In our early childhood settings, we have the opportunity to embrace these celebrations, but how do we do that in a way that is respectful, meaningful, and not tokenistic of culture?

In this session, we explore practical ways to make celebrations more meaningful in our services, including how to discuss them with families and children, overcoming challenges, and avoiding tokenism. We will also encourage you to reflect on the intention behind your celebrations and how they might impact individual children.
