ABOUT THE COURSE

If play is good, why do we stop it so much? Dive into ways well-meaning adults arrange the day that deprives children of play. We’ll look at signs of a true play-based program, examine needs for time and space, and identify areas in your day where you can give play a boost. Heather Shumaker, author of the classic book IT’S OK NOT TO SHARE, offers ideas to free up “free play."

What will I learn from the course?

Attendees will examine the benefits of large blocks of play time and discover three basic questions to ask before stopping or controlling play. Learn to identify common adult habits (including schedules) that impact free play.
