Sustainable Sensory Play

Sensory play is a common inclusion in most early childhood programs. From buckets of goop and water troughs to shaving foam on easels, there are many creative ideas for supporting hands' on, sensorial experiences. But what are the sustainability implications of this type of play? How do the choices we make about these materials and how and where they are used, impact on the planet?

In this session we will discuss the challenges around being more sustainable while embracing messy, sensorial play. We'll share practical ideas for supporting children to explore with all of their senses in ways that are sustainable, healthy, ethical and cost-effective.
