Understanding Schema and Discovery Play
This mini course has been designed to support educators in exploring the innate way in which infants and toddlers explore the world around them.
Chances are you have seen infants and toddlers engaging in repetitive (sometimes frustrating) behaviours - those things are all part of schema play.
- Build confidence in your practice. Learn how sensory play and motor development plays a role in infant development. Learn what the 8 senses are and some simple provocations to encourage sensory exploration.
- Gain Access to Recommended Resources. Gain a deeper understanding of the importance of discovery in infant's and toddler's play in supporting their understanding of the world around them.
- Learn Techniques to Support Documentation. Identify common schema and how these appear in infant's and toddler's play. Consider why should we document discovery and schema play?
