Preschoolers in our society are finding themselves under increasing pressure to read, write and become “school ready” in our early education and care settings.

Throughout these mini courses, we debunk the myth that children need to engage in rote or “academic” learning in order to be ready for school, and instead focus on the value that play offers children. As we explore the play cycle and discuss ways in which our environments and interactions can support children to develop a lifelong love of learning and a strong sense of well-being, educators will deepen their knowledge and feel confident in the programs that they are providing and in their own practice and relationships.

Which courses will you receive?

• Pondering Play Mini Course

A mini course designed to unpack the importance of play, deepening the understanding of educators and enhancing our programs to really embrace play.

The course is broken up into four lessons and the following is covered: What is play, why does play matter, who owns play, and what happens when play goes awry?

• Positive School Transitions Mini Course

A mini course exploring the process of creating a positive transition from home/ the early care setting to school, and how we as educators can best support this process through learning and wellbeing.

The course is broken up into four lessons and the following is covered: What is a positive transition, practical ways to support a positive, physical school transition, practical ways to support a positive, social school transition, and building meaningful relationships with schools and families.

• STEM Mini Course

This mini course has been designed to support educators to see behind the "buzz word" that is STEM, and to explore how STEM learning is occurring every single day through play!

The course is broken up into four lessons and the following is covered: What is STEM, why is it important, and how do we support this type of learning, thinking about STEM in the indoor and outdoor environment, and documenting STEM.

This registration is for 1 participant. If you would like to register 5+ educators, or your entire team - please contact us to make these arrangements.
