The Inspired FDC Story

Our story began in In 2013, when our Inspired EC co-founders Tash and Nicole, were presenting a workshop on risky play at a conference. The audience of Family Day Care educators loved the content of the workshop, but their number one comment - our scheme won't let us do that. While Tash and Nic's initial response was 'pester your scheme!' (with the knowledge and research to back you up, of course!), the question came at them 'why don't you start a family day care scheme?' It wasn't the first time that someone had suggested this, and it wouldn't be the last.

Tash and Nic reflected on what it could look like to develop a family day care service that was committed to supporting educators to explore their natural environments and communities, to encourage healthy risk taking, and to embrace the uniqueness of each educator, home and community.

In 2014 - Inspired Family Day Care was born and the team couldn't be prouder of what has been created. We now have educators in NSW, QLD and VIC, with hundreds of children reaping the benefits of a magical childhood.

"I worked with Inspired Family Day Care when I was offering my home based nature play programs. It was a relief to find a scheme that valued children's play in terms of adventure and exploration. If you are thinking of providing a home based service for children that values play and nature connection then please take a look at Inspired."

Information for Educators

Would you love to keep doing what you love in early education without the stress that comes from large centres?

We have had the privilege of meeting many passionate Family Day Care Educators. Over the years, in our role as consultants and trainers, we have received a lot of feedback indicating that Educators are unhappy with the inflexibility of their services or that they feel that they are unable to provide a natural, risky environment and program due to the policies of their services.

With inspired FDC, you can run your own Family Day Care inspiring childhoods filled with wonder, challenge and adventure.

What is Family Day Care?

Operating a Family Day Care provides a unique opportunity for educators to offer quality care for children in their own home. Children aged between the age of 6 weeks and 12 years are nurtured in a small group setting.

Through each educator's individualised programming, children are encouraged to develop their skills and knowledge. Inspired FDC aims to provide a service that supports educators in allowing children to take appropriate risks, and encourages connections with the natural world through natural environments and resources, and excursions into the community.

Becoming a registered Educator with Inspired Family Day Care means that whilst you are part of a national team of professionals, you are also building your own business and experiencing a degree of autonomy, flexibility and ongoing support. Plus, a perk of being the boss is getting to choose how much you earn! As a Family Day Care educator, you can select your own rates with the experienced advice of your mentor.

Operating a Family Day Care means that you can choose your working hours, giving you control over your schedule and allowing you to be there for the moments that matter most to you and your family. Do you have children of your own? Not a problem, as a Family Day Care educator, you can include your own children in your care. You can also choose to offer care to families outside of regular work hours, overnight, on weekends and public holidays.

If you are interested in seeing if our service is the right fit for you, and would like more information, please get in touch via emailing [email protected] or phone our head office on (02) 49478112 and we will arrange for a mentor in your area to speak with you.

What are the benefits of being an educator with Inspired FDC?

We value our authentic relationships with our educators. Our mentors and nominated supervisors regularly visit educators and provide ongoing support in the implementation of programs, the development of practice and ongoing professional growth. Educators have benefits such as:

  • Free access to Inspired EC online courses
  • Free attendance at Inspired EC Training and Events
  • Discount on Inspired EC events with International Guests
  • Discount on resources in our store
  • Ongoing connection and support from a team of experienced, knowledgeable and passionate early childhood professionals
  • Freedom to explore the natural world and community
  • Being part of a national community dedicated to advocating for the rights of children

We believe that Educators should be supported, not lectured and should be respected for their initiative and passion. We believe that building collaborative partnerships will enable Educators to critically reflect on their practice and to negotiate and compromise on policies and practices to ensure the rights of the child and high quality practice are first and foremost.

"Changing to inspired from another scheme has renewed my love of family day care. I lost motivation with an unhelpful scheme, and changing to inspired has been the best thing I've done both personally and professionally. Inspired allows kids to be kids and allows us the opportunity to give them that through excursions and various activities. I feel supported and validated as an educator now, and I believe my nature-based focus has become the basis of my FDC philosophy, and all decisions I make have this in mind. The mentors and support from other educators is amazing. I couldn't be happier."
