The spaces we create for children have a huge impact on how they play, learn, and feel each day. In this mini course, we’ll explore how to create environments that truly inspire curiosity, connection, and joy.

You’ll get practical ideas for setting up inviting indoor spaces, creating outdoor areas that celebrate nature and movement, and tackling everyday challenges that can get in the way. It’s all about shaping environments where children and educators can thrive.

Understand your role in setting and maintaining environments in order to spark wonder, including who should be involved in this process.

  • What do we need in our environments?

Unpack the importance of observing, reflection on, and responding to the way children interact with their environment. Depending on the age you are working with, these needs may change.

  • How do our environments support children’s play?

Explore different ways to overcome challenges in your environments, making the most of your space, resources, and the natural environment.
